Fine Art & Natural Science Illustration by Susan Jones
Artist’s Statement
The excitement of drawing, smell of freshly sharpened pencils and the inspiration of my favorite subjects: the grace and beauty found in the natural world and the extraordinary within everyday, overlooked and forgotten objects around us — I seek to reveal, capture and translate these elements into art for your examination and delight.
Living in the American northeast, southeast and northwest and the wonderful, supportive friends and creative community I've met in each locale have each left their unique imprint on my art. My work has been featured in many juried exhibitions and I am represented by Semantics Gallery in Edmonds, Washington. My studies in art include training at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, and I hold a Certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington. I currently serve as the Newsletter Editor for the Colored Pencil Society of America’s Seattle chapter, and am a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators' Seattle Chapter.
